Job OverviewThe Chemical Engineer is responsible for contributing to the planning, directing, design, development, and implementation of Metal Finishing Engineering processes. This role demands extensive technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of significant contributions to projects. The Chemical Engineer will provide guidance, drive innovations, and play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of Hubbell’s complex engineering initiatives. #LI-MM1A Day In The LifeEvery day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: Assists with Metal Finishing processes and methods to minimize waste and increase the quality of productsEvaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulationsDevelop new and enhance monitoring and testing processes to provide increased capability and process controlAnalyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyConfers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standardsMonitor process equipment to identify potential errors, develop solutions to eliminate abnormalitiesEnsure engineered solutions focus on reducing downtime, maintenance costs, and maintain or increase production levels while improving output, quality, and safetyConfers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processesApplies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potentialProvide support and required documentation for all metal finishing operations including waste treatment equipment and processesResponsible for compliance with local state and federal rules, regulations, and statuteds relating to hazardous materials and required reporting, including Hazmat transportation and manifests and industrial waste treatmentWhat will help you thrive in this role?Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (General, Mechanical, or Electrical), or related field (required) 6-8 years of progressive experience in engineering with a strong focus on design, development, or project management (required) Two to five years related experience in industrial metal finishing/platingWet Chemistry and AA solution analysisXRF thickness equipment experienceSDS understanding & evaluationHAZMAT, HAZWOPER, Emergency Action Plans, LERP’s, and Spill ResponseOSHA, EPA, DOT, NHDES (preferred) direct experience, training, and certificationCAD experienceProficient with Microsoft Office softwareLayouts, equipment positioning, and workflowsWork Instruction development, and ISO:9001 internal & external auditsSPCC, SWPP, and IDP programs40-Hour Emergency Response Training required due to hazards associated with chemical and hazardous waste handling in the facility required by 29 CFR 1910.120Hazardous Waste Operations training required by 29 CFR 265.16, 40 CFR 265.16, 49 CFR 171-172Hazardous Waste Coordinator (training by NHDES will be required)UST Training (training by NHDES will be required)Hubbell IncorporatedHubbell creates critical infrastructure solutions that power our customers, communities, people and the planet.
